Dear Readers, A stroke is a sudden acute disturbance of brain function of vascular origin. Stroke may result in paralysis, loss of consciousness or death. This is common brain disease, can occur at any age. Stroke risk can be reduce through some precautions which I will discuss in this article.

There are two types of strokes. Haemorrhagic and ischaemic. Haemorrhagic stroke occur when a damaged or weakened artery bursts and its bleeding. These damaged blood vessels could be within or on the brain surface. Ischaemic occurs when blood flow within the brain is blocked. There are different reasons for such block.

Symptoms of Stroke


Dizziness followed by vomiting and nausea

Weakness of the body

Severe headache

May pass into coma for sometime

May not be able to recall words

Fever rapid pulse and difficulty in breathing

Stiffness in the neck

Many strokes occur suddenly and clear after a few hours. Some severe cases patient remain in coma for several days.

Causes of Stroke


1. The brain require supply of blood. Stroke occurs when one of the vessels of the brain get blocked by a blood clot.

2. Stroke risk increases with age, high blood pressure,  high cholesterol and smoking.

3. This may be due to inflammation, or the presence of a clot or embolus from the heart.

4. A sudden rise in blood pressure caused by angry or emotion.

5.Most strokes are due to clotting of blood vessels  or thrombosis.

6. Avoid nervous excitement, needless worry and  excessive strain.

Avoid Food for Stroke


Coffee, tea, white flour, sugar and all flesh foods.

Deep-fried and high-fat processed food.

Salt in excess

Sugar in excess

Pickles, spices

Frozen foods

Smoking

Alcoholic beverages

Best Foods for Stroke


Liver

Oily fish Omega 3 (salmon)

Eggs

Chicken

Fresh vegetables

Fruits

Peanuts

Almond

Walnut

Pulses

Antioxidants by eating garlic, tomatoes, beans, cauliflower, orange, red grapes,  blue berries, apple, pine apple, papaya, peach and pear.

Take good amount of Colin in the diet

Take 8 to 10 glasses of water every day

Should follow breathing exercises

Good nursing care is most importance
